The Kawenata (Covenant)

The Kawenata (Covenant) embeds shared authority with Māori into the Salvation Army structure and upholds the promises of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (The Treaty of Waitangi) within the movement.

By signing the Kawenata, the Salvation Army has created an opportunity to model what shared authority can look like when it is rooted in a covenantal relationship.
